This act must have a motive, FBI just was not able to find it, like in almost all other similar cases. This apparent "lack of motivation" is in itself a part of the pattern. In this particular case, which looked more like the public spectacle and the public execution, the issue of motivation appears to be quite obvious and on a surface. Paddock was a "professional gambler", and it is very likely that he accumulated some debts for which he had to pay with his life. He might not even be an actual killer, and possibly was killed himself by the real assailants who probably were the professional killers.
