Who is Fima Shusterman? | Trump / Russia
Sat, 26 Jan 2019 11:38:02 -0500
Michael_Novakhov shared this story from Trump / Russia.

“Due to ongoing threats against his family,” Michael Cohen announced yesterday that he was postponing his highly-anticipated congressional testimony.
The threats are coming from the White House where President Trump won’t stop talking about Michael Cohen’s father-in-law, a guy by the name of Fima Shusterman.
On a phone call January 12th with Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, the president of the United States launched into an extraordinary attack on Cohen’s father-in-law, a private citizen:
TRUMP: He should give information maybe on his father-in-law. Because that’s the one that people want to look. Because where does that money? That’s the money in the family. And I guess he didn’t want to talk about his father-in-law. Trying to get his sentence reduced. So it’s pretty sad. He is weak. And is very sad to watch a thing like that. I couldn’t care less.
PIRRO: What is his father-in-law’s name?
TRUMP: I don’t know but you’ll find out and you’ll look into it. Because nobody knows what’s going on other there.
The implication here is that Shusterman, a Ukrainian emigre, is some sort of Russian organized crime figure, although in typical Trump fashion he provides no evidence.
As readers of my book know, Trump knows that Shusterman is “the money” in the Cohen family because his business benefited from it.
Even with the spotlight the president has put on him, we still know very little about Michael Cohen’s father-in-law, Fima Shusterman. The only bit of insight comes from his 1993 testimony in federal court. So here goes.
Shusterman had pleaded guilty to the charge of conspiracy to defraud the United States. In exchange for leniency, he agreed to testify at the trial of Harold Wapnick, his accountant. Shusterman was sentenced to probation and fined $5,000.
On May 13, 1993, Shusterman took the witness stand in the court of Judge Carol Amon. Although he spoke some English, he had a translator present at his own request “because I do not understand English 100 percent.”
Q. Good morning, Mr. Shusterman.
A. Good morning.
Q. How old are you, sir?
A. 48.
Q. Are you married, Mr. Shusterman?
A. Yes, I am.
Q. And do you have any children, sir?
A. Yes, I have a daughter.
Q. Where were you born, Mr. Shusterman?
A. In the Soviet Union.
Q. When did you come to the United States, sir?
A. In May '75.
Q. And are you a citizen, Mr. Shusterman?
A. Yes, I am.
Q. Are you employed?
A. Yes.
Q. Where are you employed?
A. I'm employed as a manager with Future Knits.
Q. And are you a co-owner of of Future Knits, sir?
A. Yes, I am.
Q. Who are your partners?
A. My partners are Shalva Botier and Edward Zubok.
Q. What business is Future Knits in?
A. This is a knitting factory.
Q. When was Future Knits established, sir?
A. I'm not sure. I think it was established in '81.
Q. Future Knits, sir, when was Future Knits established?
A. In 1988.
Q. And prior to Future Knits, sir, how were you employed?
A. I was employed with S&Z Fashions and LVA Corp.
Q. Were you a co-owner of those corporations?
A. Yes, I was.
Q. And were your partners the same individuals as your partners
in Future Knits?
A. Yes, correct.
Q. Were S&Z Fashions and LVA also in the knitting business?
A. Yes.
Q. When did you join S&Z Fashions and LVA?
A. In July of '84.
Q. Between years 1985 to 1988, were you involved with any other corporations
other than S&Z and LVA and Future Knits?
A. No.
Q. Did you have an ownership or office position with any other corporation, sir?
A. Yes. I was secretary with Martha Cab Corporation, and Bar Trans Corporation.
Q. And, sir, is Barn Transportation with an "N" end, B-A-R-N?
A. Barn, B-A-R-N.
Q. Who is shareholder of Martha and Barn, sir?
A. My wife was.
Q. Are you an officer of those corporations?
A. Yes, I am.
Shusterman was also secretary of N.Y. Funky Taxi Corp. and New York Fulton Taxi Corp.
Today, the chief executive of N.Y. Funky Taxi, Martha Cab and Barn Trans is Michael Cohen, who married Mr. Shusterman’s daughter, Laura, a year following her father’s guilty plea and court appearance. Cohen owns and operates a fleet of cabs in New York and Chicago.
Note to my readers: This work costs me both time and money (in the case of this transcript quite a bit of money). I do this work for free in the hope that people will find it valuable. If you agree, the best way you can support this work is by purchasing my book, Trump/Russia, which has much more information on the president’s decades-long connection to Russian criminal money.
Q. Mr. Shusterman, have you been convicted of a crime?
A. Yes.
Q. What crime were you convicted of, sir?
A. Conspiracy.
Q. When were you convicted?
A. In March of this year, '93.
Q. How were you convicted, sir?
A. I pleaded guilty.
Q. And, Mr. Shusterman, in connection with your guilty plea,
did you enter into an agreement with the government?
A. Yes.
Q. Would you tell the ladies and gentlemen of the jury, Mr. Shusterman,
what your understanding is of that agreement?
A. My understanding is that I obligated myself to fully, 100 percent,
cooperate with the government.
Q. And did the government agree to do anything in return, sir?
A. Yes, they did.
Q. What did they agree to do, sir?
A. They would advise the judge about my full cooperation and
about my help rendered in their investigations.
Q. Mr. Shusterman, have you been sentenced yet?
A. No, not yet.
Q. Do you know what sentence you are facing, sir?
A. Yes.
Q. What is that, sir?
A. Five years in prison, and up to $250,000 in fines.
Q. Sir, have any promises been made to you regarding your sentence?
A. No.
Q. Do you know who will be sentencing you, Mr. Shusterman?
A. Yes, I do.
Q. And who is that, sir?
A. Judge Amon.
Q. Mr. Shusterman, you've testified that you pled guilty to
the crime of conspiracy. Could you tell the ladies and gentlemen
of the jury what is it that you did?
A. I concealed income from the state, and I cashed checks in the amounts
that exceeded $10,000.
Q. Mr. Shusterman, what did you need this cash for, sir?
A. To operate our business.
Shusterman goes on to say that from 1984 to 1988 he would regularly bring checks from his customers made out to S&Z Fashions, LVA, and Future Knits and leave them in Wapnick’s office.
A few days later, Shusterman would return and collect cash, always in amounts more than $10,000, in a paper bag or envelope. Wapnick would keep 3 percent for his services.
The total amount cashed with the Wapnicks was “somewhere between five and five and a half million dollars,” Shusterman testified.
Shusterman is then cross-examined by Harold Wapnick, who does a terrible job of representing himself with convoluted lines of questions.
However, he does stumble into a couple of things that are interesting in light of Trump’s claims that Shusterman is “the money in the family.”
Wapnick: Sir, you own a -- you own 40 percent of a
40-machine factory, sir?
A. No.
Q. What percentage do you own of a 40-machine factory, sir?
A. 15 percent as of today.
Q. 15 percent. Would you say that the 15 percent value is in excess
of a million dollars, sir?
A. If you pay me half a million I'll sell it to you gladly.
Q. Thank you. How about the -- do you own five -- 9 taxicab medallions?
And are they worth about two million dollars?
The Court: Wait a minute. I don't think he gave an answer.
Q. Are they worth about two million dollars, sir?
A. Did you say two million?
Q. Let's say $170,000 apiece, and we multiply it by nine, so, okay --
what's a half a million dollars among friends. Is it worth ---
The court: I take it you're withdrawing your last question.
Wapnick: No I'm asking him is it worth a million and a half dollars, sir.
Shusterman: Only on paper.
A decade later, beginning in 2003, Shusterman made the first of three apartment purchases at Trump World Tower across from the United Nations building in Manhattan. By 2005, Shusterman had spent $7.6 million on Trump’s properties.
So where did this money come from and what did Trump know about it?

Do not shed your crocodile tears for your beloved FBI, our dear Not Exactly The Big (Maybe, Medium?) Brother Barak! They are your Baby now. You own them and their "Obama's FBI" History, documented by the ACLU, among your other leftist "allies". I do think that you, Your Para-Socialist Majesty, should be investigated too, and very thoroughly. You and Trump are just the two sides of the same coin, and I believe, that both of you are, indeed, the New Abwehr's babes; both probably unwitting, but the degree and the quality of this "unwittingness" have to be explored, examined, and determined. The FBI's "Dishonesty and Corruption", as Gregg named them aptly, may be "endemic", and chronic but these problems, it seems to me, were exacerbated greatly during the Obama Presidency, and this period, in retrospect, might be viewed as the times of the War on the FBI by the New Abwehr and the other opponents.

M.N.: By the same standards, Putin "looks" like an agent of Germany or the New Abwehr (witting, unwitting, or half-witting, but certainly not dim-witting). And all of them probably are. With the one central and key proviso, clarification, and hopefully the ANSWER: All of them are the assets, agents, puppets or the useful idiots of the New Abwehr The Demiurge who controls to a large degree the world's mass media and directs its financial and political systems.
And ziz iz not the "conspiracy theory". This is the perfectly valid and legitimate, and also the greatly under-investigated hypothesis.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation reportedly opened a counterintelligence investigation in 2017 to find out if President Trump was a Russian agent. What if the FBI had similarly looked into whether President Obama was an agent of Iran?

Counterintelligence agents would have examined the target’s personal and professional networks. The FBI investigated at least four Trump campaign figures for supposed ties to Russia. Only one, Mike Flynn, worked in the administration, and for less than a month. The...

"There is no actual starvation or deaths from starvation but there is widespread mortality from diseases due to malnutrition…Any report of a famine in Russia is today an exaggeration or malignant propaganda." (Walter Duranty, New York Times, August 23, 1933.)
“This is not a Communist Revolution in any sense of the term. Fidel Castro is not only not a Communist, he is decidedly anti-Communist.” (Herbert Matthews, New York Times, July 1959.)
“Why Infants May Be More Likely to Die in America Than Cuba…There’s no doubt that a major strength of the Cuban system is that it assures universal access. Cuba has the Medicare for All that many Americans dream about.” (Nicholas Kristoff, New York Times, Jan. 18, 2019.)
(No point in refuting this hackneyed propaganda/idiocy yet again, amigos. We’ve demolished the “Cuba’s Free and Fabulous Healthcare!” meme often enough here at Townhall.
“Cuba is a tired little country, no threat to anyone, with impressive health care and education…President Barack Obama took the necessary step of re-establishing diplomatic relations and easing the embargo, but President Donald Trump reversed course and tightened things up again out of knee-jerk hostility to anything Cuban and anything Obaman.”  (Nicholas Kristoff, New York Times, Jan, 23, 2019.)
In fact, President Trump “tightened things up again” because he’s not an idiot. In fact, President Trump “tightened things up again” ( i.e. upheld the Helms-Burton Act as codified by U.S. law) because—in addition to his fealty to the U.S. Constitution—he’s not a sucker for disinformation swallowed and spread by people who collude (wittingly or useful-idiot-wise) with Cuba’s KGB-founded and mentored propaganda ministry. The Castro regime well knows who its friends are in the U.S. To wit:
New York Times Recognizes Cuba's Health Achievements.” (Cuba’s KGB-founded and mentored media organ Prensa Latina, hailing their propaganda subsidiary on Jan. 18, 2019.)
“Jeff Flake stressed his happiness upon arriving in Cuba, which he has visited multiple times.  He also stressed that he has never been in favor of the embargo imposed by various U.S. administrations and always in favor of normalizing relations.” (Cuba’s KGB-founded and mentored media organ Cubadebate June, 4, 2018.)
Oh, sure, like all of Castro’s U.S.–based agents (on Castro’s payroll and off) Flake (like Nicholas Kristoff) swears up and down that his propagandizing against the (so-called) Cuba embargo is, in fact, an immensely shrewd ploy to undermine Castroism by taking away its “excuse” for impoverishing its subjects and then showering them with U.S. dollars.
“Hah!” Snort Flake, Kristoff and all their anti-embargo cohorts with an eye-roll. “How can you right-wing Cuban-exiles (people with the most knowledge of and experience with Castroism) not comprehend our brilliant plan to end Castroism!”
Well, for starters, Flake along with all his fellow "shrewd underminers of Cuban Communism by a shower of U.S. dollars," all get hero’s treatment in Cuba’s Communist media, limitless visas to visit the Castro’s Communist fiefdom and the red-carpet treatment upon every visit.
Whereas your humble servant is prevented from setting foot in Cuba and denounced as “SCOUNDREL! and TRAITOR!” by the same Communist media which hails Flake and his anti-embargo cohorts as heroes.
I guess those Castros are just too dumb to see through Flake’s, Kristoff’s, etc. devilishly shrewd scheme!
Gosh. I guess those Castros qualify as total nincompoops in the art of maintaining dictatorial power! (Over twice as long as Stalin, four times as long as Hitler and even longer than Kim Il Sung.) Guess those poor deluded Cuban Communist fools have no idea what the brilliantly crafty Jeff Flake, The New York Times, Congressional Black Caucus, etc. are up to!
I apologize for insulting your intelligence with this issue, amigos. But that idiotic “the embargo is the Castros’ best friend” meme pops up often and demands a response. So here it is:
If Castro “secretly favors the embargo,” then why did Castro’s secret agents in the U.S. ALL secretly and obsessively campaign AGAINST the U.S. embargo while working as secret agents?
Castro managed the deepest and most damaging penetration of the U.S. Department of Defense in recent U.S. history. The spy’s name is Ana Belen Montes, known as "Castro’s Queen Jewel" in the intelligence community. In 2002 she was convicted of the same crimes as Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, and today she serves a 25-year sentence in federal prison. Only a plea bargain spared her from sizzling in the electric chair like the Rosenbergs.
Prior to her visit from the FBI and handcuffing, Ana Belen Montes worked tirelessly to influence U.S. foreign policy against the embargo. The same holds for more recently arrested, convicted and incarcerated Cuban spies Carlos and Elsa Alvarez and Kendall and Gwendolyn Myers. All of these worked tirelessly to influence U.S. policy against the "embargo," (i.e. worked to facilitate further Castroite theft from Americans) while working as secret agents. This has been the Castro regime’s foreign policy priority for decades, and people like John Bolton well know it.
As Obama implemented his Cuba “opening” (to thundering cheers from liberals and libertarians) your humble servant went blue in the face trying to explain the horrible, but eminently predictable, consequences to some libertarians on John Stossel’s show.
Whatever else we may say about Fidel Castro, he was no fool. He had the New York Times’ number from day one: “To our American friend Herbert Matthews with gratitude. Without your help, and without the help of the New York Times, the Revolution in Cuba would never have been.” (a beaming Fidel Castro decorating Herbert Matthews with a medal during a visit to the New York Times offices in April 1959.)

Palmer Report: The real reason Robert Mueller suddenly hurried up and nabbed Roger Stone, after months of waiting
Sat, 26 Jan 2019 07:04:52 -0500
Michael_Novakhov shared this story from 1. Trump from Michael_Novakhov (198 sites).

On Friday morning, Special Counsel Robert Mueller had the FBI arrest Roger Stone. Mueller has had a grand jury going against Stone for the better part of a year, and there seemed to be no hurry to nab him. But based on the details that have surfaced, it very much appears that Mueller decided within the past few days that he needed to move on Stone as quickly as possible. In other words, something suddenly changed.

The details that have surfaced from the grand jury strongly suggest that Robert Mueller had Roger Stone indicted on Thursday, and then had him arrested the next morning. That’s a lot of haste, considering Mueller had previously been content to let the grand jury carry on against Stone for as long as necessary. Throw in the fact that the seven charges in the indictment didn’t include any of the numerous other aspects of Stone’s life that Mueller was investigating, and it’s clear that the case against Stone is nowhere near complete – yet Mueller suddenly decided to bust Stone anyway.

There is no evidence that Roger Stone was planning to flee, or anything like that. In fact this change of plans on Mueller’s part appears to have nothing to do with Stone. The indictment goes out of its way to spell out that a senior Donald Trump campaign official (separately identified as Steve Bannon), instructed Stone to conspire with WikiLeaks, and that Bannon himself was instructed to make this happen by someone even higher up. Therein lies the key; Bannon only reported to Donald Trump and, to some extent, Donald Trump Jr.

In other words, Roger Stone is just a pawn in all this. Robert Mueller decided to hurry up and nab Stone because he wanted to formally establish the criminal conspiracy that Stone played a part in, so he can charge other people involved in it. Why right now? Why not last week, or next month? Mueller is clearly at a stage where he’s about to move on a bigger fish in the Stone-WikiLeaks conspiracy. It almost has to be Bannon, Trump, Trump Jr, Julian Assange, or some combination of the above.
