President Donald Trump kicked off the final day of the weekend with a message absolving himself of the possibility he colluded with Russia during the 2016 presidential election.
On Sunday morning, Trump shared on Twitter that Senator Richard Burr, chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, hasn't found evidence of collusion between himself and Russia. The president said the news came after almost two years of investigating thousands of documents and completing over 200 interviews.
“Is anybody really surprised by this?” Trump concluded his tweet.
This isn’t the first time the president spoke out about the findings of the Senate Intelligence Committee. On Friday, Trump criticized the mainstream media for refusing to cover the news that the committee didn’t find evidence of collusion and called it “all a giant and illegal hoax.”
He claimed the “hoax” was used by Democrats as an excuse for why former Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton lost the presidential election.
“Someday the Fake News Media will turn honest [and] report that Donald J. Trump was actually a great candidate!” Trump wrote on Twitter.
Burr told CBS News on Thursday that based on the facts the committee has, there’s nothing that “would suggest there was collusion by the Trump campaign and Russia.” The senator acknowledged that they didn’t anticipate the investigation would last two years and that it still wasn’t over. Ultimately, he predicted the committee’s final report would be heavily classified, meaning some portions wouldn’t be made public.
"I don't think we've got any rock that we haven't turned over, regardless of, geographically, where it's located," Burr told CBS.

He explained the committee had access to documents that outside investigators would have never had the ability to go through. The amount of information they had from the intelligence community allegedly gave them the ability to tell when someone was lying. Although he didn’t elaborate on how many referrals were made for criminal prosecution, Burr said the committee wasn’t shy in making them.
The investigation has been criticized for not being bipartisan enough, but when it comes to writing the report, Burr said there shouldn’t be concerns it’s being skewed because you take the facts and write the report. After a lengthy investigation, the senator said the final report is the “easiest point.”
Burr applauded the people working on the investigation for approaching it in a bipartisan way. Although he and Senator Mark Warner, vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, are on different sides of the aisle, he said they have the same goal.
“We both committed at the beginning that the investigation would go wherever the facts told us to go,” Burr said.

WHAT’S THIS ALL ABOUT?
Special counsel Robert Mueller is looking into whether the Trump campaign coordinated with Russia and whether the president obstructed the investigation. Trump also plays a central role in a separate case in New York, where prosecutors have implicated him in a crime. They say Trump directed his personal lawyer Michael Cohen to make illegal hush-money payments to two women as a way to quash potential sex scandals during the campaign. New York prosecutors also are looking into Trump’s inaugural fund.

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW RIGHT NOW?
The Senate Judiciary Committee approved William Barr’s nomination for attorney general along party lines Thursday. Republicans praised his credentials and Democrats questioned how transparent he’ll be once Mueller’s Russia investigation concludes.
The vote now heads to the full Senate, where Barr is expected to be confirmed as soon as next week.
Barr would succeed Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who was pushed out by Trump last year over the president’s anger that Sessions had stepped aside from overseeing the Russia investigation. As the country’s chief law enforcement officer, Barr would oversee the remaining work in Mueller’s investigation into potential coordination between the Kremlin and the Trump campaign.

SO ... DID THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN COLLUDE WITH RUSSIA?
There is no smoking gun when it comes to the question of Russia collusion. But the evidence so far shows that a broad range of Trump associates had Russia-related contacts during the 2016 presidential campaign and transition period, and several lied about the communication.
There is evidence that some people in Trump’s orbit were discussing a possible email dump from WikiLeaks before it occurred. American intelligence agencies and Mueller have said Russia was the source of hacked material released by the anti-secrecy group WikiLeaks during the campaign that was damaging to Democrat Hillary Clinton’s presidential effort.

OTHER QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:
—WHAT ABOUT OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE? That is another unresolved question that Mueller is pursuing. Investigators have examined key episodes such as Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey and Trump’s fury over Sessions’ recusal.
—WHAT DOES TRUMP HAVE TO SAY ABOUT ALL THIS? Trump has repeatedly slammed the Mueller investigation as a “witch hunt” and insisted there was “NO COLLUSION” with Russia. He also says his former lawyer Cohen lied to get a lighter sentence in New York.
—WHEN WILL IT ALL WRAP UP? It’s unclear. Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker says the probe is “close to being completed,” the first official sign that Mueller’s investigation may be wrapping up. But he gave no specific timetable.

After Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos revealed that the National Enquirer tried to blackmail him, and accused Donald Trump and Saudi Arabia of being in on it, the SDNY let it be known that it’s criminally investigating the matter. There’s reason to believe that the SDNY, thanks to its ally Robert Mueller, may already have what it needs to tie Trump and Saudi Arabia into it.
After he published his story, Jeff Bezos then told a Washington Post reporter that he suspects a “government entity” may have gotten into his cellphone in order to gain blackmail material, as opposed to some private hacker. So what’s a government entity? Did Trump find a rogue element at the NSA willing to wiretap Bezos? Or is Bezos referring to the government of Saudi Arabia? There’s already some intriguing evidence in play to support the latter.
Back in June of 2017, the Huffington Post revealed that Michael Flynn helped facilitate the sale of cellphone spyware to a handful of corrupt governments who wanted to eavesdrop on their own political dissidents. One of the nations on that list is – you guessed it – Saudi Arabia. Six months after this report, Flynn cut a cooperating plea deal and promised to tell Robert Mueller everything he knew about every criminal scheme he’s ever participated in. Mueller recently confirmed in court filings that Flynn was indeed 100% cooperative.
If the government of Saudi Arabia did indeed purchase spyware designed to take over cellphones, with the intent of using it to target political enemies, it would give them motive and opportunity to get into Jeff Bezos’ phone. If Michael Flynn was indeed in on this scheme, then he’s already told Robert Mueller all about it. And we know that Mueller shares everything relevant with SDNY.
In addition, Michael Flynn’s involvement in Saudi Arabia’s political spyware scheme would help tie the hacking of Jeff Bezos back to Donald Trump, as it appears Flynn was doing this work in the same timeframe in which he was a Trump 2016 campaign adviser. In other words, with all these criminal connections, and Trump’s overall status as a financial puppet of Saudi Arabia, are we supposed to believe Trump somehow wasn’t involved in it all?
M.N.: I think that the Russian Leadership fully understands the enormity and the complexity of the problem if The New Abwehr Hypothesis of The Operation Trump is correct. It becomes the common problem.
