President Trump stretches others’ comments to claim ‘no collusion’ by Salvador Rizzo
Schiff says it's 'mistake' for Mueller not to interview Trump Danbury News Times
WASHINGTON - The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee said Sunday that special counsel Robert Mueller was making a "mistake" by not demanding ...
Heading into what is already set to be a pivotal week in Robert Mueller’s Trump-Russia investigation, Erik Prince just threw us all a curveball by admitting that he participated in the long-alleged second Trump Tower meeting with Donald Trump Jr and others during the election. He then comically claimed that this meeting is only missing from the transcript of his sworn House testimony because the transcript is somehow wrong. Even as everyone rightly marvels over the absurdity of this, Prince just gave away something larger.
From an optics standpoint, what Erik Prince just said looks absolutely terrible. There is no one in the court of public opinion who is going to believe that he confessed to this meeting during his House Intel Committee testimony two years ago, but no one from either party remembers him saying it, and the transcriber somehow missed it as well, and even though Prince has known all this time that this incriminating transcript was incorrect, he’s never thought to ask anyone to go back and check the tape until now. By claiming this, Prince is making himself look like an idiot.
As Palmer Report likes to point out, there are only two reasons a person tries to make a scandal go away by floating an excuse that has absolutely terrible optics. The first is if they’re simply an idiot and they simply don’t know how bad it’s going to make them look. The second is if they’re savvy enough to know that they’re facing criminal implications in the scandal, and they’re making the calculated decision to sacrifice the optics in the name of establishing a criminal defense. After all, obtaining a “not guilty” plea only requires carving out a sliver of reasonable doubt, even if the jury thinks you’re very probably guilty.
Erik Prince is a steaming pile of crap, but he’s definitely not an idiot. He’s a shadowy figure who’s suddenly decided to come out of the shadows and do an interview with a journalist he knew would be hostile toward him, just so he could admit the second Trump Tower meeting happened, while claiming the meeting was about Iran policy instead of conspiring to rig the election, and laying out a legal defense against perjury charges. The only reason for Prince to do this right now: he expects Mueller to indict him any day, and he’s focused on his own trial defense.

Why Trump Should Fear Nikki Haley The National Memo
As a presidential candidate, Haley would help negate the Republican Party's well-deserved reputation for shortchanging women, minorities and immigrants.
How bad have things gotten for Donald Trump? He’s officially lost Ann Coulter. Not only that, he knows he’s not going to be able to get Coulter back, which is why he’s now viciously attacking her. So what happens after you’ve lost the support of a cartoonish pundit who’s such a joke that both sides know she’s a joke, and the right just humors her? Trump just gave us that answer, and it isn’t pretty.
In the past few days Donald Trump has retweeted the likes of Paul Sperry, Charles Payne, Mark Levin, Tim Young, and Hans Von Spakovsky. How obscure are these people? They’re all real, but if I had made them all up, most of you wouldn’t know the difference.
Don’t feel bad if you haven’t heard of these people; you’d have to be pretty well versed in the far-right echo chamber to have any idea who these people are, because none of them exist outside of it. But that’s who Donald Trump has left now. As he circles the drain, even people like Ann Coulter are cutting bait, because they want to retain relative credibility with their far-right base once Trump has been flushed. The people speaking the most loudly and consistently in Trump’s defense are people whom no one has heard of or even cares about.
But don’t tell that to Donald Trump, who is such a malignant narcissist, he’ll embrace anyone who sings his praises, no matter how laughable that person is. In fact Trump has retweeted Paul Sperry, whoever the heck that might be, nine times in the past two days. This is all that Trump has left to work with. Instead of giving up and resigning, Trump is clinging to what little he has left, no matter how embarrassing it may be.

Is John Bolton blind, daft, or what? Just like his boss Donald Trump, he refuses to see what’s right in front of his face. Bolton recently appeared on This Week with Martha Raddatz, who asked him about North Korea rebuilding its long-range rocket launching capabilities. This information has been in the news all week, yet Bolton refused to acknowledge that evidence exists. Seriously, is he just dumb? We best believe something else is afoot, like Bolton trying to play down Trump’s failure in North Korea and being in cahoots with Russian benefactors.
Bolton disregarded Raddatz’s questions regarding North Korea by saying, “The United States government… expends a lot of resources and effort so we don’t have to rely on commercial satellite imagery.” Well, this is not just “commercial satellite imagery.” The imagery comes from an outfit called Beyond Parallel.
Beyond Parallel was initiated by the Center for Strategic & International Studies. Its sole purpose is the study of actions in Korea. Beyond Parallel was created to provide “clarity and understanding to policymakers, strategists, and opinion leaders about Korean unification.” Putting it simply, all they do is study Korea, and they are, therefore, very well-versed on activities in both North and South Korea. Just this past Tuesday, Beyond Parallel published photos indicating that the Sohae facility is rapidly being rebuilt. Given that this organization’s very existence is based on observing Korea, wouldn’t you assume that they know what they’re talking about? Apparently, not if you’re John Bolton.
Bolton wouldn’t even comment directly on photographs he was presented, responding instead, “We’ve seen a lot in North Korea. We watch it constantly. There’s a lot of activity all the time in North Korea, but I’m not going to speculate on what that particular commercial satellite picture shows.” Photos and satellite are what they are; they’re showing what they “see.” If a leader refuses to see what’s before his eyes, I’m hard pressed to figure out why unless some ulterior motivation is at play.
John Bolton unquestionably has ties to Russia. Elijah Cummings and Stephen Lynch requested records regarding Bolton in August 2018 about Bolton’s connections to the group The Right to Bear Arms, a Russian pro-gun outfit. Because of that connection, Cummings and Lynch voiced concern over Bolton’s security clearance and the Trump administration’s vetting process (or lack thereof). Considering all of the security clearance problems in the Trump administration to date, Cummings and Lynch were right to be concerned. This is before getting to Bolton’s connections to Cambridge Analytica and Russian spy Maria Butina.
Now that the House Democrats are in power, we should see more activity surrounding John Bolton in the coming months. Considering Bolton’s denials of what has been captured in (non-commercial) satellite photographs and his continued attempts to cover for Trump, that may well happen sooner rather than later. Organizations like Beyond Parallel and our intelligence community have kept our nation safe for many years. Only this Administration questions them. This is the most corrupt administration in U.S. history – and we don’t yet know how far that corruption runs.
